DISCLAIMER: this is not pickup soccer as you may know it, this is community soccer. Things we try not to do - individually dominate play, only pass to men or the best players, show off our amazing skills to fuel our egos, injure our friends. There are already plenty of highly competitive pick-up games on campus or in zilker park if that's your speed.

Where Do We Play in Austin, Who Can Play?

Games are open, all welcome. Come out on any sunday and introduce yourself. We often follow games with an evening potluck/party.

SUNDAYS - 1-4pm (closer to 2) at Rosewood Park in east austin @ 12th and Chestnut. There's not much parking, so biking is recommended - map / shoot us an email for more info.

You'll see anywhere from 20 to 50 people out on sundays depending on how hot or cold it is. It's always a mis-mash of genders, colors, age and skill levels (there is a big disparity here, so anyone willing to offer free soccer clinics will be vastly rewarded). We play/hang out for at least 2 hours in summer, closer to 4 other times and there is a pool nearby to finish up in if it's full. No matter how beat we are, we try to follow sunday games with an evening potluck and/or social event via the email list (if you play, you can ask to get on it).

The Guidelines (there are rules, but no rulers)

1. We play without borders! Literally, there are no sidelines. We just wait for folks to make their way back to the field if they wander. (It gives us time to catch our breath!)

2. We play for fun. Anyone not having fun will be ceaselessly mocked until they smile.

3. We do not keep score. There are no winners. Just tired happy people at the end.

4. EVERYONE is welcome, regardless of gender, race, politics, etc., as long as they can keep the spirit of the community soccer game ahead of their competitive instincts.

5. We don’t care if you use your hands! We don’t care if you pick up the ball! But we will probably tackle you and take it back if you run around with it.

6. We play with cones for goals. Or trash cans. Or bags, or whatever. Thus the game can spring up wherever we see room for it!
